Users had to generate License Key manually, account on our forum was required. When Extended License functionality was introducted in 2015, only free 2 month trial licenses were available. Other functions do not require Extended License. Anyone who has downloaded and installed FORScan version for Windows already has Standard license, so no need to install it separately. Standard license is the default one distributed with FORScan. In the 2.2.* branch we introduced new terms: Standard License and Extended License for Windows versions of FORScan.
